Poem: The Tired Years

The tired years are here
Seemingly forever
Soak it in, they say, it goes so fast
But seconds draw endless
Lines towards dusk unseen
Where stars glitter wishes
In a night sky only for
Young lovers and reflecting elders
For those in the tired years are fast asleep
Only to be woken for a bad dream
Or glass of water

Poem: Summer Days

The softest breeze upon skin
Sun soaks deep down
Birds sing happily, songs
Of empty nests and burdens none

Trees sway a tired dance
Ladened arms lift leafy garments
Stirring at winds mercy
Before quieting back into their slumber

Heaven is smiling down at
Productive bees and flitting butterflies
All things grow, stretching
For rain promised in the
Streak of clouds flat against a blue sky

It all waits full
Anticipating
For what it scarcely knows
A desire unknown
A yearning not realized
A promise unfulfilled

It's always there—
underneath it all
And on summer days it
Brushes fingertips and lays
Almost in reach

Poem: A Stubborn Heart

The silence is deafening
Because I will not listen
The questions unanswered
The problems unsolved
My anguish is my own doing
For I refuse to hear
The clock ticking quiet seconds loudly
